SEAOK Statement Regarding the Distribution of Internet E-Mail Addresses

The Structural Engineers Association of Kentucky realizes the value of maintaining an Internet electronic mail (e-mail) directory pertaining to its membership. A database such as this can be used to distribute information rapidly to the Association members and patrons in an efficient and economical manner.

It should be emphasized, however, that the purpose of the distribution list is for sending announcements relative to the business of the Association and for distribution of intellectual information as it pertains to the engineering sciences and the business of the structural engineering practice.

With the potential for inundating members with superfluous messages caused by the misuse or irresponsible application of the distribution list, all members are urged to exercise good judgement in the management of the list. Members should not use the list for distribution of information not relevant to business or concerns of the Association. Furthermore, members are asked not to forward the distribution list to commercial or private parties having no direct involvement in the matters of the Association.

Non-profit and educational institutions or entities offering a useful service to the members may request access to this list from a board member or officer of the Association. A favorable majority vote from the board will be necessary before the distribution list is made available to such parties.
